Looking back at my preseason spotlight of Noah Schultz, I ended with this:

If all goes well, I believe Schultz can be the ace of an ascending (albeit very slowly) White Sox team for years to come.

The White Sox have not ascended slowly. The White Sox have turned into one of baseball’s best stories in 2026. Schultz himself has had an up-and-down year. He began the year in Triple-A Charlotte before joining the White Sox and making his big league debut on April 14th against the Tampa Bay Rays. He went 4.1 innings, allowed 3 earned runs with 4 strikeouts and 4 walks. So far in 2026 with the Chicago White Sox, Schultz has made 11 starts, going 3-6 with a 5.60 ERA through 53 innings.

Schultz was placed on the injured list on May 26th with tendinitis in his right knee. It was a lingering issue that has bothered him for most of the season’s first half, and largely a reason for his command issues this season. He made three rehab starts in Charlotte in June, and seemed to find something there, allowing just 4 earned runs, striking out 15 batters across 9 innings.

He returned to the South Side in July, making 3 starts, and it was rocky. Overall, I still think Noah Schultz has a bright future, but I think he could use a little more seasoning in Charlotte, and with the White Sox cruising, they can afford to take their time with Schultz.

As an aside, one of my favorite experiences from going through the Spotlights at the start of the season was when it came to the Noah Schultz piece. After I posted it, I received positive feedback on the piece from both of Noah Schultz’s parents. Both began following me on Twitter/X and shared the article. For a writer who’s working to bootstrap this thing and grow a following the hard way, that was such a cool thing. Shoutout to the Schultz family.
