Minnesota’s top prospect is outfielder Walker Jenkins. In 2026, he comes in at #14 on MLB.com’s Top 100. When Jenkins is healthy, he is one of the most dangerous bats in the game, but that is a pretty big caveat. Like Byron Buxton and Royce Lewis before him, Walker Jenkins appears to be next in a long line of top Minnesota prospects who have a hard time staying on the field.

Jenkins sustained suffered a hamstring strain during Spring Training but recovered in time for the regular season. He began the year in Triple-A St Paul hitting .256 with just 3 homers and 13 RBIs. Then, on June 3rd, Jenkins exited the game after crashing into the outfield wall. He missed more than a month with a Grade 2 AC Joint Sprain in his left shoulder.

He returned to the field on June 13th for a rehab start with the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels, where he came out swinging. He went 4-5 with a homer and a double. After that game, he moved on to the Cedar Rapids Kernels for three more rehab games, going 5-11 with a homer and 2 RBIs across those apperances.

He returned to Triple-A St. Paul on June 23rd, and since then, he’s been trending upward. He is sporting a .304 average with one homer and 8 doubles, raising his average in Triple-A up to .277 on the season.

Jenkins’ most notable moment of 2026 came on June 30th. Prior to a game in St. Paul against the Buffalo Bisons, several young fans joined the team on the field for the national anthem. During the anthem, a young boy named Lincoln began to appear unsteady due to the extreme heat. Jenkins noticed and ran to young Lincoln’s aid just as he fainted. Walker picked him up and carried him off the field and into the dugout where he was attended to by the Saints’ head athletic trainer Chase Thompson. Lincoln made a full recovery, and Walker Jenkins went 3-5 in the game, falling a home run shy of the cycle in a 12-6 victory over Buffalo. Jenkins quick thinking and heroic actions have earned him the nickname ‘Captain America’.

If the Twins are in the Wild Card race win rosters expand in September, there’s a decent chance we see Walker Jenkins in a big league uniform but given that his health has been a nagging concern this year, I’d feel more comfortable if they held off on his promotion until 2027. Give him a chance to prove his health and fight for an Opening Day roster spot in Spring Training.
