It’s fitting that we’re giving an update on Tyler Bremner’s 2026 season, seeing that just a few days ago, Bremner’s UCSB teammate Jackson Flora 4th overall by the San Francisco Giants.

As for Bremner, he has spent his first full season of pro ball with the Tri-City Dust Devils of A+. It’s been a bit rocky for Bremner, going 0-4 with a 4.70 ERA in 12 starts. He’s given up 39 hits in just 38.1 innings and been bitten by the home run ball, getting taken deep five times. Opponents are hitting .262 against the 2025 2nd overall pick.

Things got off to an overpowering start for Bremner with Tri-City as he posted a 1.08 ERA through four starts in April. He allowed just two earned runs through 16.2 innings, striking out 25 to just 5 walks.

He appeared to be primed for a quick promotion to Double-A before things got off track. He allowed 10 earned runs across 6.1 innings in his two most recent starts in July which seems to have slowed his quick rise through the Angels system. He did appear in the 2026 MLB Futures game, getting the last out and securing the 6-1 win for the American League on a 97 MPH sinker, which appears to be a new pitch.

One of the biggest concerns about Bremner wasn’t the strikeout stuff, it was the length. Could he hold up to the rigors of a professional season as a starting pitcher? Considering that things started to fade for Bremner after his first 5 starts, those concerns haven’t exactly been alleviated and given the Angels’ organizational inability to produce reliable starters over the years, I’m not sure I trust their developmental leagues to prepare Bremner properly.

Like I said, Tyler Bremner’s quick rise appears to have stalled, but given that Reid Detmers and Jose Soriano could likely be on their way out of Los Angeles at the deadline, Bremner could still find his way to the Majors in relatively short order. Rushing him there would not be good for his development, but again, it was never a question of stuff. If Bremner can right the ship in the second half of the season, he could still climb the ladder, but I think it’s more likely we see him in Anaheim in 2027.
