Empire Sports Talk started in 2012 as a simple blog. I’ve dreamed my whole life of being involved in the sports world. Life circumstances prevented me from participating in sports alongside my friends, but my love for sports remained insatiable. I had to be involved in any way I could.
One day, I turned on the television and found now iconic broadcast figures Stuart Scott and Vin Scully. Two men who made me realize that you could make a living talking about sports. It was then when I found a calling and a passion.

In 2012, I began a blog – “Empire Sports Corner” – a play on Roman Empire, a moniker I often pulled from (my name being Roman), to put a creative touch on various school projects. While my ultimate goal was to be on a sports show like ESPN’s “Sportscenter”, there weren’t as many avenues to that destination as there are now. The blog was the only avenue I had at the time. I wanted to write from the perspective of a passionate sports fan who never had an opportunity to step on a field or a court but studied relentlessly and cared even more. Then, one day, I stumbled on an emerging format that would allow me to record myself talking about sports they way I had always dreamed – something called a podcast.

Two years after that first blog post, at an outdoor picnic table on a college campus in Florida, I recorded the first episode of a brand new show known as “Empire Sports Talk”. As the podcast picked up steam and took most of my attention, that initial blog began to go by the wayside. I still posted every once in a while, but eventually, the podcast became the sole focus.

In 2018, Empire Sports Talk went on a hiatus. I was working a full-time job adjacent the sports space, and no longer had the time to devote to it. After three stressful years at woefully unfulfilling job, I decided that it was time that “Empire Sports Talk” make its return. In 2021, I recorded the first new episode in years, this time with an updated YouTube channel and video setup. I became a refuge again.
Throughout the years, I have maintained an intense love for the sports that have unilaterally captured my attention and my heart ever since I could first pick up a ball. I am more convinced than ever that sports broadcasting in whatever format it may take, is my calling. That’s why I’m also bringing the blog back on this new site – bringing it all back together!
Welcome to Empire Sports Talk, a safe space for all sports fans. I’m glad you’re here and hope that you can connect with some of the content. As I often say at the end of the podcast episodes, “Today’s a good day to go 1-0!” See you around!
